Private Pilot – Airplane (Single Engine)

CTI Professional Flight Training offers every student the opportunity to begin training in a new Diamond DA-20 aircraft, making sure that each student can learn on a full glass cockpit and embrace the latest technology on their very first flight!

A private pilot license never expires, and is an excellent investment as you start your life of flying! If you are thinking about a career in aviation, earning a private pilot license is a necessity before you can take to the skies. The license allows you to fly a private airplane and transport passengers but you are not allowed fly commercially or receive payment as a pilot. If you are at least 17 years old and you have acquired an FAA medical and student pilot certificate, you can begin training for your private pilot license.

Contact us if you live in the South Florida or the Memphis, Tennessee area and you are interested in learning to fly. Whether you want to pursue a career as a pilot or just looking to fly for fun, we can get you off the ground for as little as $8,900!

Requirements: Applicant must be 17 years of age and at minimum must hold an FAA third class medical with student pilot certificate.

Duration: 4 – 6 weeks

The Private Pilot License Training Process:

  • The knowledge exam consists of a variety of questions that will test your understanding of basic aviation.
  • You will be required to attend 25 hours of instruction either in a group classroom or a one-on-one setting.
  • Dual flight instruction is where you will spend most of your time. This is the first hands-on step and you will be in control of an airplane with a certified flight instructor. You will hone your skills as your practice controlling the plane and normal flight maneuvers.  Briefings before and after each flight will provide valuable information and feedback.
  • Once the instructor feels like you are ready, you will be placed in full control of an airplane in solo practice flights.
  • After you have logged enough hours flying by yourself, your instructor will determine if you are ready for a final evaluation, the Check Ride Exam. The Check Ride exam consists of an oral test which further examines your knowledge of aviation and all regulations. Once the oral exam is completed successfully, an examiner will join you in the air for a final test that judges your aptitude at the controls of an airplane. If both the flight and oral exams are passed, you will be granted a private pilot license.
  • Because CTI Professional Flight Training has self-examining authority, you can schedule this check ride exam with one of our own instructors!

As with every school, actual costs vary depending on each student’s unique abilities. Our price quotes are based on FAA minimum required hours under FAR Part 141 regulations and do not include any applicable examiner fees, student visa fees, TSA fees, knowledge exam costs, textbooks, or accommodations. Flight training is a highly individualized process and the actual number of hours required to reach a standard will vary significantly by candidate. Fuel Surcharges may apply and are subject to change without notice. There is a one-time enrollment fee for all CTI Professional Flight Training students.
